Who is Like Our God?
Who is like our God?
Remember what happened long ago, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and no one is like Me. Isaiah 46:9 A child’s tricycle and a sports car have almost nothing in common. They both have wheels and can be driven. Yet no one could possibly mistake one for the other. Only the sports car could take a passenger from California to Florida. Speaking for God, Isaiah asked rhetorically, “Who can compare to Him?” The prophet answered the question as he detailed the process of making an idol: pour out gold or silver, hire a craftsman, carry the idol from place-to-place, set the idol down, and pray to it. The idol didn’t respond. In contrast, Isaiah reminded Israel God had established and carried their nation. God alone provides salvation, grace, eternal hope, peace, comfort, calm, meaning, and purpose in life. God works for the good of all those who love Him. God cares for His people, carrying them in times of hurt, grief, and pain. Even a child’s tricycle and a sports car have more similarities than God to an idol. Isaiah reflected on the hollow promises of the idol, and then concluded: there is none like God. Father, I remember the times You carried me when I was weak. There is none like You.
